Maths + Geography = Photography

I took a trip to North Wales ostensibly to indulge my love of steam trains. The weather wasn’t showing much promise however late in the afternoon, returning from a trip, the sun popped out from behind the clouds. Now I’ve learnt that you need to take these opportunities when they present themselves as they won’t be there the next day.

Nerdy Ali obviously Googled sunset times for the local area to see how long I had to find a location. I noticed that the sunset time also had the degrees in the West at which the sun would set. Now Porthmadog, where I was staying, had a hill in the way so I had a quick look at a map of the area and realised that a local town, Criccieth, was at the right angle, was by the sea and had a castle on the hill. All of these things make for a good photo.

I’ll let you work out whether it worked.
